Connacht Gold Premier Cup Final Preview

The top two sides in the Premier Division meet in the Connacht Gold Premier Cup Final at Solar 21 Park on Sunday.

Ballyhaunis Town v Snugboro United (Sun 2pm) - Solar 21 Park

Both sides have already been promoted to the Super League and the title will be decided on Sunday week in the final round of games. After 19 wins in a row Snugboro United go into this game on the back of a three-game losing streak including a 5-0 loss to their opponents on Sunday that has seen their lead at the top of the table cut to just one point. Ballyhaunis on the other hand have hit form at the right time of the season as they have won eight of their last nine games in all competitions with a 2-2 draw against Fahy Rovers the only blot on their win ratio since they lost 6-4 to Snugboro in the middle of June. Ballyhaunis are the top scorers in the division with Gary Higgins and Dayo Adex leading the way for Tommy Page’s side while they have also conceded the least amount of goals with captain Aiden McTigue leading the defence with some excellent performances all season. If Snugboro can reproduce the form they have shown for the majority of the season they will be confident that they can pick up their second piece of silverware after winning the Tuohy Cup Final in July. Sean Curry is the leading scorer in the Premier League and with Jason Ormsby and Kevin Curry also adding their fair of goals they have the players capable of causing problems for the Ballyhaunis defence. All in all an entertaining game is in prospect if the two previous encounters this season are anything to go by.
