Calor Gas Super Cup Final Preview

The final game of the domestic season takes place on Sunday as Ballina Town look to retain the Super Cup for a third year in a row when they take on Manulla at Solar 21 Park.

Ballina Town v Manulla (Sun 2pm) – Solar 21 Park

Ballina Town will be looking to add to their Westaro Cup win earlier in the season as they return to Solar 21 Park where they have picked up three cup wins in the last few seasons. On Sunday they face another side that are no strangers to cup finals as Manulla return to the final of a competition that they won in both 2014 and 2015. Ballina finished a place above them in the League but there wasn’t much between them as both sides picked up a win apiece when they met during the season. Ballina are in a good run of form and have only lost two matches in eighteen as Mick Duffy’s side have found goals easy to come by with Dylan Edwards, Benny Lavelle and Jamie Cawley their main threats in front of goal. They have added Brian Benson to their squad in recent weeks and with David O’Mahoney also available they will be sure to cause problems for a Manulla defence that have not been at their best in the past few months. Manulla just like Ballina have been in free scoring form as they got past Swinford and Ballyglass to reach the final. They may not have the household names in the side like Ballina but they still have plenty of talented players that are capable of causing problems for any defence. They are a very good all round side and goals have been coming from all over the field recently with Sean Morrissey, Darragh Byrne, Gary McHale adding to the attack that includes Gerry Canavan, Jesse Devers and Shea Benson. The two sides met in the Westaro Cup Final last season and it was Manulla that came out on top on that occasion so Ballina will be looking to erase that painful defeat and claim the Super Cup for a third year in a row
